Oceanlilli have made their reputation by fusing old styles with modern influences into modern music, but have recently taken an unexpected path when creating Low Altitude Living. While their previous records were recorded live in studio, this one was demoed and edited digitally first before gathering to craft finished songs together – this has allowed Oceanlilli to expand their sound with warmer psychedelia tones as well as cinematic production techniques.
“Home,” featuring stunning guitar work from the band, stands out on this album as one of its stand-out tracks. Chime melodies and subdued fuzz add charm; its story of a man returning with his family to their childhood home during a storm is truly memorable. Additionally, ‘Drinks And Cigars” showcases their ability to elicit emotion through song – with lyrics depicting sorrow-laced love; it makes you reflect upon how important those people in your life truly are.
