As is usually the case, anime studios tend to prefer certain types of shows over others: Sunrise tends toward mecha, while JC Staff and Doga Kobo favour moe girls and Hal Film Maker focuses on slice of life shows. BONES stands out as an animated studio that prides itself on showing its diversity through shows such as Angelic Layer, Kurau Phantom Memory and Cowboy Bebop movie among many others.
Namine_Vanitas stands out as an exceptional piece of fiction with some of the finest voice actors from across franchise. From its gorgeous art style reminiscent of French Enlightenment period to how characters move with purpose and intent, this show pays a loving homage to French culture in every aspect.
While the series might not offer as much action or plot as its predecessors, it still boasts its own distinctive take on life that makes for entertaining viewing and lasting impressions with every character having an individual narrative that feels very personal to them.
While the first episode was relatively lighthearted, its second one took an entirely different path. With Vanitas’ brother being introduced and Charlatan making himself known, this second installment proved itself as a remarkable show capable of taking such complex themes and making them unforgettable.
