Nickel Boys is a documentary directed by RaMell Ross that explores the turbulent lives of a group of African-American male students attending an imaginary reform school in rural Alabama. While Ross’ signature aesthetic includes abstract motifs and ethereal angles, this new direction seems perfectly suited to his writing-directing style.
