Miss Vexx offers a vast and sprawling world full of all the familiar platforming elements: see-saw platforms, bottomless chasms to navigate, poles to climb, walls to grasp onto and swing from, as well as testing your jumping skill in every way possible. Although Vexx never goes beyond its limits in any way, its elements work effectively together for maximum enjoyment and challenge.

Reia, the sole remaining Astani race member and guardian of the Landspire. After losing her family to Dark Yabu’s army of Shadowraiths, Reia must maintain the boundary between her world and Shadow Realm by maintaining an impenetrable barrier between both realms. She is assisted in this task by blind companion Darby who guides her around its ruins.

Vexx, like other Valdani creatures, is a small wolflike creature with sharp lower canine teeth and light blue eyes that glow in the dark. He wears gauntlets that enable him to slash enemies, uppercut launch them into the air, and unleash a powerful blast when fully charged up. Juggling enemies helps increase his frenzy meter; once filled, there’s little incentive for continuing throwing himself at his foes.

Vexx’s gameplay draws upon several past games, particularly Jak and Daxter. Vexx also shares their teleportation powers; although his is much less extensive. Unfortunately, Vexx doesn’t receive upgrades or new attacks throughout the game so his combat can become repetitive over time; but beautiful landscapes and ingenious puzzles make it worth your while to continue playing!
