Leoandviolet follows two families connected by their shared interest in art. Bill Wechsler, an emerging artist with a shy son named Mark who eventually moves in with Violet Hertzberg and her family, has an unstable marriage to Lucille; yet is attracted to Violet as his artistic muse and psychologist scholar muse.
The plot revolves around these characters and their many endearing quirks. Leo, an art history professor with a Harvard degree who can often be perceived as infuriatingly rude but doesn’t hate women like Violet who works as an Auto Memories Doll performer and convey people’s emotions through performance art. Although misogynist, Leo recognizes and appreciates Violet who works hard as an Auto Memories Doll performer who conveys emotions through performance art.
Unfortunately, as the story progresses, characters begin to lose their appeal. Mark becomes involved with Teddy Giles, a horror artist renowned for destroying and creating macabre images for sale, who lies to and steals from Leo and Violet. Instead of seeking help or calling police on Giles and Mark directly, Leo chases after them in an endless senseless chase which never really pays off.
