Plus-size models who bare their bodies for cameras have come under attack by mean-spirited comments and even death threats. Nursing assistant Ashleigh Atkins, who wears a size 230 frame and started her “Fat Positive” account on TikTok to showcase photos from photoshoots that feature seminude or nude images was met with an abundance of hateful comments, as well as death threats.
Known for her work with online fashion retailers such as In the Style, Boohoo Curve and Fashion Nova as well as featuring on Sports Illustrated covers, the chubby model attempts to break barriers by emphasizing that size does not define her as a model.
She has also created The Thick podcast with the intention of dispelling myths that big women are inferior. She serves as an inspirational figure to many struggling with body image issues.
This model has an engaged following on Instagram and strongly embraces body positivity. She constantly posts selfies that demonstrate this point.
