On Wednesday, any attempt at accessing Anonib Cb was met with a redirection page hosted on the Dutch police force Politie’s website; by Thursday a Politie spokesperson informed Motherboard that Anonib Cb had been taken down due to “an ongoing investigation.”
Anonib Cb is an anonymous message board known for hosting photos of individuals that were shared without their consent without their knowledge or consent, known as revenge porn. Known for being harsh but also quick to take down images when victims request removal, Anonib Cb was an especially popular dumping ground during the Marines United scandal and IP addresses from various government agencies have been linked back to it.
Motherboard has discovered more evidence of Anonib Cb seizures, including a subsection called Fakes/Xray where users share women’s selfies before photoshopping them to make it look as though they are engaging in pornographic content. Law enforcement authorities have become much more active in prosecuting revenge porn, particularly the Netherlands which takes an aggressive stance towards sites sharing underage images of minors.
