Hedonism is a philosophical doctrine which promotes life centered on seeking pleasure and avoiding pain, with long and complicated historical roots as an academic theory. At its peak during Empiricism’s heydays of the 18th and 19th Centuries – especially under Hedonistic Utilitarians like Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill – hedonism was widely popular as an ideology; however, since G.
